Air France is responding to growing demand by adding three weekly flights from Paris to Toronto, to bring the total to 10.
Air France-KLM group released its summer schedule Tuesday, showing a 1.3% increase in long-haul flying, including a 12% capacity increase to Japan, and new flights to Boston and Las Vegas.
The extra flights to Toronto were the only increases to Canadian destinations. They will be flown with Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
“As the leading long-haul airline group on departure from Europe and with more than 100 million passengers carried in 2018, our aim, supported by all our teams, is clear: Air France, KLM and Transavia must be our customers’ reference brands for all their travel plans in Europe and worldwide,” said Air France-KLM chief executive Benjamin Smith in a statement.
Air France will offer 36 weekly flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Canada this summer, including three daily flights to Montreal, while KLM will offer 35 non-stop flights to Amsterdam from five Canadian cities.
Together, the two airlines represent 11% of all capacity between Canada and Europe, based on data compiled by Air Transat. Air Canada leads the way with 43% of the market, while Transat holds about 20%. Westjet, though a small player on the trans-Atlantic market, is projecting the biggest increase, with new flights from its Calgary hub to Dublin and Paris, and new Dreamliner flights to London-Gatwick.

Westjet expected to enter into talks this year on a joint venture with Air France-KLM as part of its European expansion. It has already concluded a joint venture agreement with Air France-KLM partner, Delta.
